Our Mission
The mission of BASIC is to help communities in both the developed and developing countries transform themselves through holistic community integration. The developing world, struggling to get on the first rung of the economic ladder, remains physically impoverished. Much of the developed world struggles to find meaning, peace, and love in the midst of physical wealth.
We hope to encourage meaningful exchange between people from all walks of life: all faiths, economic backgrounds, and political beliefs. BASIC was founded because of Jesus’ instruction to love our neighbor and a recognition that some of our neighbors might look, believe, and work very differently.
Fear of foreign cultures, not knowing what to do, how to do it, whom to do it with, and lack of resources stops people from engaging with brothers and sisters around the world and discourages meaningful exchanges. BASIC brings together committed individuals, churches, communities, NGOs, universities, and governments to give witness to their beliefs and ideals through their partnering work.
Beginning its work in Kasei, a small community in central Ghana, BASIC engages in dialogue and work with community members from Ghana, the US, and around the world to encourage sustainable development through education, agrobusiness, health, and faith.
