Frequently Asked Questions

Don't see your question here? Email us at basicghana[at]gmail.com.

Is BASIC a registered non-profit organization?

Yes. We are registered in Illinois and received 501(c)3 status in 2005. Your gifts are tax-deductible.

Can I volunteer? How?

Yes! We have all sorts of opportunities to help, both in the US and in Ghana. Check out our "Get Involved" page, but if you have an idea that you don't see there, contact us and we'll work hard to find a way for you to use your skills and gifts to help others.

What does BASIC mean?

It's an acronym for Brothers and Sisters In Christ. We want to help others because Jesus told us to love our neighbor. That means everyone, even people that believe differently than us.

I or My company have some items to donate. Can you ship them to Ghana?

Maybe. While we periodically ship educational and medical supplies to Ghana/Kasei, the items are often based on the community's assessment of its own needs. In the interests of sustainability, we try to ship only those items that are difficult to obtain locally. If you would like to make donation of items for Kasei, please contact us at basicghana[at]gmail.com.

Do you need any philosophy majors to go overseas?

Sure. Everyone has gifts.
